Virtual Work Term Opportunity

Bring on one or more students from Saskatchewan Polytechnic in the Architectural Technologies program to work virtually, in a project-based experience. Students will work on one or more projects of your choosing over the work term period, connecting with you as needed with virtual communication tools.

Students are available for work terms starting September 1st– December 31, 2020 with a flexible start date up to November 1.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, student placements might occur virtually, with the ability of on-site and/or in-office work if the situation permits. And we request that students complete a minimum of 300 hours either full time or part time.

Work terms are paid, with the option of wage subsidy programs. If requested, the co-op coordinator can provide all information related on qualifying for wage subsidies.

Project Examples

Requirements

Students can complete a substantial project for your organization over the placement period. We suggest providing a starting project, but as the placement goes on there may be other duties or projects the student is asked to complete as well. Providing a central project creates structure for the work term, and gives the student (and company) a tangible goal.

Students understand all aspects of residential design and wood frame construction. In addition, they have received training in commercial and institutional building construction, with a focus on the building structure, engineering systems and the building envelope. These skills can be applied to many facets of the building industry.

Students are capable of doing the following tasks, amongst others:

  • Construction
  • Computer Aided Drafting (CAD), REVIT
  • Design
  • Engineering
  • Project Coordination

Project examples that students can complete will vary depending on your company's needs.
