Project feedback
During my virtual placement with Canada Stay Holdings Inc., I had the chance to develop learning modules as part of the Rippen project. While I appreciated being part of an international educational initiative, I found that the overall experience did not align closely with my background or area of expertise in early childhood education.
The project focus on high school students, this was significantly outside my usual scope of experience, which at times made it challenging to fully engage. There were moments where I felt unclear about my role or expectations, and I found it difficult to stay motivated due to the lack of alignment with my professional interests and training. Additional, I believe it would be beneficial to offer placement opportunities based on student areas of specialization, since the learning experience for students whose strengths may not directly align with secondary-level curriculum design.
I still gained insight into cross-cultural education and curriculum development for language learners. I'm grateful for the opportunity, I challenged myself and was part of a broader educational initiative, even when pushing me out of my comfort zone.
Thank you for the experience and the chance to reflect on my professional goals.
Sincerely,
Stephania H.
