This course is aiming to have students work with an industry partner on an IT management project using Cisco specific products and Microsoft-based networking. Students will design and implement a computer network design for your company. They are familiar with most aspects of network design. Therefore, students can either design and implement a new network, or augment parts of your existing network. The focus for students is to build and configure a complex network using skills gained throughout the course. In addition to technical expertise, they are also building their project management skills. This course utilizes the network design framework of the Cisco Certified Networking Association (CCNA), thus students are most familiar with Cisco and Microsoft-based networking equipment.

This course is designed for second-year computer engineering technology diploma program students. Students will apply knowledge they gained in previous semesters. They will conceive and design an original project that incorporates hardware and software. They will research alternative designs, select appropriate strategies, and defend their design choices in a final presentation. They will manage the project scheduling and costs to meet broad goals with minimal direction. They will design, construct, and test a working prototype; including, a printed circuit board to illustrate the soundness of their design choices.
